Refill Devotional, Week 1 Day 2: “What Should I Plug Into?”

What should I plug into?

Read Hebrews 10:24-25, Matthew 18:20

Yesterday we read that we get Refilled by being plugged into the main power source, Jesus Christ.  In today’s scripture reading we see that one of the ways we get plugged into that main power source is by being plugged into church.

While Hebrews 10:24-25 strongly admonishes us to not neglect gathering together, Matthew 18:20 shows us why. There is power when we come together for church because where ever 2 or 3 are gathered together in His name He is present.  Even though we can do devotions on our own and pray on our own, the Bible makes it clear that there is something awesome that takes place when we are together.

Going back to our phone analogy from yesterday we understand that just having the iPhone cord plugged into the phone was not enough but rather that cord needed to be plugged into the wall. The same is true with us. We cannot find power from just being plugged into friends or a book club, etc. but rather we need to get plugged into a cord of relationships that are plugged into Jesus. We call this cord church.

Church is a place like Hebrews 10:24-25 describes that you will find a Refill (be stirred up) so that you can love others the way you should and to go do good works. We should never neglect the opportunity to gather together as the church because there we will find God and be filled up to fulfill His plan and purpose.

Think of it this way: you are the iPhone, Church is the iPhone cord, and Jesus Christ is the outlet that everything plugs into. Get plugged into church today and you will be Refilled to fulfill God’s best for your life.
