Refill Devotional, Week 1 Day 1: “Get Plugged In”

Get Plugged In!

Read Matthew 11:28-30

We put gas in our cars, plug in our computers and charge our phones But, what do you plug into?

This is such an important question to ask ourselves because just like these things all need to be plugged in to get refilled you and I are no different. All of these things must have something feeding into them in order to give them power.  After all any device is useless unless it has power especially my Iphone.

A few weeks back my phone died. When I got to my friends house I asked if he had an Iphone charger. Within about 5 seconds his wife walked around the corner with a power strip with 4 Iphone chargers coming out of it! Im sure my phone felt like it was in refill heaven. I plugged my phone into the charger but nothing happened. Why… because the power strip was not plugged into the outlet of the wall. I quickly plugged it in and power!

Just like with the Iphone there is power for you when you get plugged in. In our case we need to get plugged in to the Lord Jesus Christ. Today’s scripture reading shows us that Jesus called people who were tired and drained to himself because in Him we find refreshing as we are refilled.  The Iphone although it was plugged into a cord was not charging, it needed to be plugged into the main source. It is not enough for us to just be plugged into activities and people but rather we need to make sure we are plugged directly into the source ourselves and that source is The Lord Jesus Christ.

No longer fill drained get Refilled today! Stop and say this prayer. “Jesus I thank you for your word that tells me I can find rest in you. I am coming to you now and asking you to forgive me for trying to get refilled through other sources. Jesus give me rest today. I love you, Amen”.
