Refill Devotional, Week 1 Day 5: “The Power Of Being Plugged In”

The Power Of Being Plugged In

Read Mark 2:2-11

Being plugged into a church community is sometimes most powerfully observed when you are in a time of need. We see it here in Mark chapter 2 with a man who is paralyzed. His community not only knew how to help him get around but they knew exactly where to take him in his time of need.

I remember one of my greatest times of need when I was 16 years old. I received a phone call from a one of my brother’s sergeants on the police force who informed me that my brother had been in an extremely bad accident. Doctors gave my brother only an 8 percent chance of surviving his injuries. What were we going to do?!

I am not sure what many people do in situations like this but my family and I did the only thing we knew how to do. We cried out to God and prayed. My brother was in a coma, unable to talk, move or feed himself but we picked up the corner of his mat and we carried him to Jesus in prayer. In fact, within hours we had people praying all around the world for his healing.

Just like the man in Mark 2 my brother is a miracle story today. The church kept praying and every time we did he would improve. The doctors said he would never be the same and would never be able to go back to work. I am happy to say today that not only is my brother back to work but He is one of the top officers in the state of Washington. That is the power of being plugged into a church community!

Do you have a Church Community you can call on?
