Refill Devotional, Week 8 Day 6: “A Promise From Jesus”

A Promise From Jesus

John 14:15-18, 16:5-15

The Holy Spirit is a promise from Jesus, He promises that we will would not be left to be orphans, but that He would come to us. Jesus calls the Holy Spirit a Helper and the Spirit of Truth.  There are times in my life when I get overwhelmed to the point of tears and worried to the point where I can’t sleep at night. None of that is from God, and when that happens I just begin to pray. I have gotten faster at praying when that happens because as I have gotten to know the Holy Spirit more, I know that He is my Helper and the Spirit of Truth. Like many others,  I may at times stress over money or relationships and may battle the lies of the enemy the when I call out to the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth. Reality sets in and the truth of God’s sovereignty and love for me wins out every time. Jesus said that our burdens should be light and our yoke easy. If we are allowing ourselves to be filled up and reminding ourselves of His character then we will experience freedom from worries and anxiety. In 2 Corinthians 3:17 says that where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom and Phil 4:6-7 that if we pray peace will come and guard our hearts and minds. We don’t have to live with anxiety or worry about anything, just be filled with the Holy Spirit, he will come and lead you into all Truth and Help you.
