Refill Devotional, Week 8 Day 5: “Be Filled”

Be Filled

Luke 4:1-15

Being refilled by the Spirit and continuing to keep that spiritual tank full is so important. In times when you may be lead into the wilderness, it will matter. The scripture says that Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit and led into the wilderness by the Spirit. Just to be clear the Holy Spirit didn’t tempt him at all, that was all Satan, but the Spirit filled Him first. When we have to go into a spiritual battle it is important to be filled so we can come out in the power of the Holy Spirit like Jesus did. Before Jesus went into the wilderness, he was baptized. Baptism is showing the world that we have buried our old life and we are walking in the newness of life with Christ. Ultimately you are telling the world you are saved by Christ, but while we are saved, we are still walking out our salvation and are being sanctified. Everyday we have to shake off parts of our old self, whether it is a thoughts or a struggle. I believe that everyday, when we bury our old self and walk in the newness of Life but we can only do that if we are filled with the Spirit. Daily, going to Him and asking Him to fill you as you go into the battlefield and come against things that may tempt. Then you are empowered to walk out of those tempting situations with victory.
