Refill Devotional, Week 5 Day 2: “Spirit”

Refill with Worship: Spirit

“On the final and climactic day of the Feast, Jesus took his stand. He cried out, ‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Rivers of living water will brim and spill out of the depths of anyone who believes in me this way, just as the Scripture says.’” John 7:37-38 (MSG)

Jesus beckons those who are thirsty to come and refill. Jesus came to earth as the answer to our spiritual drought, as the remedy to our restlessness. He won us access to overflowing life and invites those who are dry and weary to be satisfied.

In John 4:23, Jesus stands beside a well of water calling for worshippers to worship Him in spirit and in truth. Those worshippers will be refilled forever, they will be satisfied, and they will be eagerly welcomed, since “the Father is seeking such people.” (John 4:23)

The Spirit of God is a fountain of life that we access through worship. When we come to the Father, the Holy Spirit renews us with water that quenches our spiritual thirst. His Spirit makes our spirits come alive (John 3:6). His Spirit fills our spirit with love, joy, and peace (Gal 5:22-23). Most of all, his Spirit satisfies us.

When we worship in spirit, we are filled to the brim with “rivers of living water”. Also, the living water within us overflows the banks of our lives and begins to transform others too – our families, our friends, our co-workers, anyone we encounter. That is the power of the Holy Spirit through worship!

What thirst or desire can you worship into overflow today?
