Helping Others Understand The Church and Jesus

  1. I know what you mean, when I first came to San Diego people would look at me weird because it was 50 out and I was jogging in running shorts and a t-shirt. They knew I wasn’t from around here. I can also relate to feeling out of place. When I first started my walk with God, not too long ago, I went to a church that was really into theology and would flip and flip and flip through so much scripture during each message and I was lost and would get frustrated because I couldn’t follow at all and in the end did not get the message or understand it. I also didn’t know any songs previously and I still don’t know many, so I always appreciate the lyrics on the screen 🙂 One good thing that did come from feeling like I didn’t understand was I challenged myself to read the bible from cover to cover in 1yr. I did that and started feeling like I understood a lot more since I at least knew the stories that were being told. At Canvas, I felt very welcomed right away and met so many encouraging people who wanted to help me learn more, grow and connect. I would’t be as far as I am without God leading me here.
