“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago” – Ephesians 2:10 NLT
If you are anything like me you are extremely happy the elections are over because that means the campaign ads are over also. On Wednesday morning however as I looked on Facebook and Twitter it was obvious there was a mixture of emotions which ranged from extreme happiness to absolute devastation. Depending on whether you are right wing, left wing or playing the middle trying to be the whole bird would depict what emotion you felt that morning.
As I read through the posts and tweets and news it would seem that some feel like the world is going to end tomorrow because of the elections, oh wait… tomorrow already came and went and here we are, still here. Sure we are closer to God wrapping this whole thing up but every day that goes by brings us closer. What we need to remember as believers is that no matter who our elected officials are, God is in control and He still has a beautiful picture in mind because He is the master painter.
Ephesians 2:10 tells us that we are “God’s masterpiece”. To know that we are a masterpiece means that He is the master painter painting a great picture. This should give us great confidence knowing that He still has the brushes and paints in His hand and He is still at work even if we can’t quite see what He is creating.
My dad was a pretty good artist and I remember times when I would sit and watch him sketch. So many times I would wonder why he was drawing a line there or shading something in over there, none of it really made sense to me. I would get confused and often frustrated because I had no idea where he was going with the picture and I would just walk away. When I would come back hours or sometimes days later I would see the finished product and say, “ahhhh now I see it”. He knew where he was going with it the whole time, I did not because I was not the master creating the art. This is how it is often times in life. We do not understand why God allowed this or that to happen and the picture does not make sense to us. Once He is done however we can step back and say, “ahhhh now I see it” and this is a great feeling.
For all of you that woke up this past Wednesday feeling like the world is going to end and for those of you that are going through something right now that does not make sense, be patient because the master painter has a plan. We need to remember that every master piece starts with one stroke of a brush. That first stroke may not look like much but if you just hold on and trust Him I guarantee that the end result will be, “you are God’s masterpiece” because after all He is the master painter.
What are you worried about today and what things do you need to trust Him with?
