Carols Devotional: “Away In A Manger, Part 5”

I love thee Lord Jesus look down from the sky and stay by my side until morning is nigh

Colossians 1:15-20

The portion of the song talks about the birth of Jesus but also Him being in heaven.  It reminds me that Jesus is eternal. He is the creator and also will be there at the end and sit on the judgment seat.  In a society where things are not usually built to last and true commitments are a rare quality, eternity is a difficult thing for me to wrap my brain around. Jesus was committed to His creation so much so that He came down and became the visible image of the invisible God and He holds all things together. It blows my mind that the one we celebrate this Christmas Season holds all things together and is supreme over all creation and yet He came down and saved me and is still saving me and will save me. How I love the one who loved me so much. I am so thankful that I can celebrate the birth of the one who pursued me and invites me to into relationship with Him.
