Faith and trust

Faith and trust

James 2:14-17

Faith is such an interesting concept. We see it as a strong belief in God, knowing that you know, that you know. And as much as that is true, it doesn’t stop there. When you know something, when you truly, truly know, then your actions back that knowledge up.  So faith comes with trust.

I have a daredevil for a daughter; she’ll try anything, jump from everywhere, and bonk her head more times than it’s probably safe. I have noticed, however, that after too many accidents she has become a controlled daredevil; she won’t do certain things unless I am around, and she will ask for me to hold her hand in some circumstances.

There is something about knowing that either my husband or I are around that allows my daughter to fully and completely jump off of things.  She knows that if we are there she can try anything; we will either catch her, or console her. She knows everything will be fine if we are there.

Much like my daughter God is expecting us to be daredevils for him, not foolish children who have too many accidents because they jump when He isn’t around, but instead controlled daredevils. People that know that if God is there, and He has asked us to do something, then whether the jump seems to far to make it, we know we can give it a try because He’ll hold our hand in the process.

What is God asking you to trust Him with so that your faith can be backed up with action?
