Refill Devotional, Week 6 Day 4: “Talents”

Talents

John 4:39, Romans 12:1-8

I’m a behind the scenes person, I love knowing and having a hand in everything that is happening without having the spotlight shining on me. I thrive in that, in making last minute decisions, finding mistakes before they become an issue, getting everything ready so that when the spotlight person steps in the light they have everything they need to shine. I know my role, I can see the importance and impact of what I do and yet every time I watch my pastor preach I wonder “why can’t I preach like that?”.

For years that thought prevented me from sharing my faith, pastoring people, sharing in community groups, always thinking  “it won’t be as good as someone else’s”. Then I came across the Samaritan woman. She brought many samaritans to Christ with 6 simple words “He told me everything I ever did.” That was her testimony, she didn’t need to be eloquent, funny, well spoken, have an incredible miracle, she just needed to share what Jesus did for her, nothing more, nothing less. She gave what she had, a conversation with Jesus, and because of that many people got saved. With that in mind I started sharing more, reaching out to people that I knew needed someone, trying to excel even more in my role at my church and I haven’t been the same since.

Paul told us we are all part of one body and a body has many different parts with different functions and responsibilities, and when one part of the body is not doing its part, the body doesn’t function properly.

My question to you is, which part of the body are you? And are you doing your part?
